“Angela and I first met in São Paulo in 2007 during my study abroad program, and we quickly became friends. Since then, our paths have crossed in various professional settings. In Brazil, she worked as a cultural events coordinator and student liaison. Later in Washington, D.C., we reconnected through her collaborations with nonprofits and government agencies. More recently, I have visited her in Puerto Rico, where she is pursuing a doctorate in psychology. Angela’s roles as a mother, daughter, friend, and artist—combined with her social, hard working, and creative nature—have consistently made a positive impact on those around her.”
